半乳糖羧甲基琥珀酰亚胺酯含有一个羧甲基琥珀酰亚胺酯活性基因和一个半乳糖类靶向基因 ，能与氨基高效反应的亲水性聚乙二醇衍生物。
在室温条件下 ，PH=7-8的情况中 ，活性酯基因能快速地与赖氨酸中的氨基链接。单糖基团半乳糖大大提高了聚乙二醇化反应的选择性。
